It was almost 7 in the evening. I was coming to home after office. Nearing the entrance I met Mr.Jacob our neighbour, After sharing a few words of courtesy with that old man, I walked into our premises. Even in the dim light I could feel a swift movement. Out of curiosity I sped up to find a cute thing moving ahead of me. On reaching the steps that leads into my house I was able to recognize him,Mr Nag. He found shelter in the corner. It was hiding in the water meter box. After confirming him to be venomous, I entered into my house. On sharing the news my son nodded his head as if it is a silly thing and murmured. We thought it may go on its way once it is left alone and were relaxing.
After some time my son went out and saw it crawling out.Seeing him it went back into hiding. Now I was really terrified.Anyway he went back to study and I went to watch TV.
Then after 20 min I heard the sound our neighbour's car stopping in the front and i head them chat to each other.Suddenly I went out and informed them of the danger and the men agreed to kill it.Then there was a hurry and they started acquiring weapons and got themselves ready. My son and they got ready with all kinds of sticks and stuff with a torch also.
Then the meter cover slowly moved with the help of a crow bar like instrument( called 'paara' locally). Then my son shone the torch inside to see that the quite long and slimy snake was coiled together. It moved on light impact and started moving within the hole.At this the neighbour carefully brought down the pointed end of the paara right on its neck to break it up in one blow.It coled and struggled in pain but lived.
After hitting it they slowly picked it pout using the paara and put in the ground in light, where everyone could view it properly. It really was a beautiful and long snake and of course that meant it was very poisonous too.It hadn't died for about 15 min after hitting it.
Then it was taken to the nearby vacant plot and buried with proper ceremonies of covering with heavy stones.
There lies the great snake that boldly visited my adobe, and earned the price(like all guests do).
